Good day all,
It has been a busy month as I continue to work on a Screenplay about 45 Commando during WW2, I am hoping that the treatment and script will be received enthusiastically by some one and we may one day see Royal Marines portrayed on our screens!
'You asked for it, yes you did!
A British Private Ryan and Band of Brothers(at last!)
COMMANDO MEN is the story of men at war, the Second World War but it could be any war.
We see men thrown together out of patriotism, circumstance, peer pressure or fear of missing out, all from very different backgrounds, some career men and others volunteers who have been transformed into Chuchills ‘Hunter Class’ or ‘Leopards’ trained to butcher and bolt during the Second World War.
We follow the recruitment of Officers and Men, some in civilian wartimes roles, from the blitz of Liverpool docks, or the light engineering factories of East London, conscripts and volunteers into the wartime Royal Marines where they join career men through the arduous selection and training process for their Green Berets.
They all come together from different parts of the country and different classes and backgrounds as members of 45 Commando Royal Marines in particular ABLE TROOP and the Commando Headquarters we watch as they train, bond then fight and die together.
We follow our Band of Brothers on their real war time journey fighting the Nazi’s through Normandy, Holland and then Germany between 1943 - 1945.
Our story is based on real characters and events.
In a unique way not seen on screen since the hey day of 1950 and 60’s War Films we will watch the difficult decisions being made by the commanders, and the effects on our men as their lives change daily with each new challenge, and as they watch the body count rise and the enemy fight harder.
We watch our characters interact with each other with humour and love for each other, often in fear before an action, or with senses heightened in the heat of battle, and in sadness at the senseless waste when they loose comrades.
We get to know their daily routine, the weapons, equipment, food, latrines, living conditions and hostile environment in a way not seen on screen before.
Envisaged as a 6 - 10 episode series for high end TV'
