Hi, I've come across a question - is it necessary to certify a copy of a diploma when applying for a job? I recently had an interview at a small IT company, and HR asked for a copy of my diploma. Without hesitation, I sent a normal scan, but she then asked if it was notarized. I was surprised because in past places no one had even asked about this. Is there a standard or does it depend on the employer?

It really depends on the company, but I would say that in most cases a scan is enough. I was applying for a job with an international firm and they asked for a certified translation of my diploma. But I had the original in the UK and it was not possible to get it quickly. To avoid wasting time, I decided to temporarily order a college degree. In the end, I sent a copy, then replaced it with the official one. The main thing is not to panic, everything is solvable.
